Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Hands Over Solar Panel System to Na Dee Hospital, Prachin Buri as the Ninth Hospital, achieves 450-kW clean energy provision at a total budget of THB 14.4 million

BANGKOK – May 23, 2024: Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has continuously handed over solar panel system under its ‘Solar for Lives’ project to Na Dee Hospital, Prachin Buri Hospital. So far, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has installed the solar power systems to a total of nine community hospitals with over THB 14.4 million budget on 450-kilowatt clean energy provision, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by more than 270 tons per year. The company expects to install the solar power systems for 40 community hospitals within the next 10 years.

 

Mr. Eiji Ogawa, Executive Vice President, Factory Unit of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand said, “Solar for Lives is an initiative in line with Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s commitment and CSR direction ‘To Contribute and Grow with Thai Society’ under its three main pillars – Education, Environment and Health. Our goal for putting solar panel systems in community hospitals across Thailand is to increase the availability of good healthcare services to Thai people. This project can create sustainable energy sources for hospitals, and promote the government's strategic goals to bring Thailand towards a carbon-neutral society. We expect to invest THB 60 million in solar panel systems installation and maintenance for 40 community hospitals within 10 years. For Na Dee Hospital, the project is expected to reduce the hospital’s carbon dioxide emissions by more than 30 tons per year.”

 

Mrs. Wilairat Yothapan, Head of Nurse, Na Dee Hospital said, “With Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s solar panel system installation has helped reduce power costs for our hospital. We can channel funds to other important areas of our operations, and that will heighten the level of service and medical care we can impart to the community. Besides, this project also allows us to bring Thailand towards a carbon-neutral society.”

Mr. Thanong Duangmukphanao, Deputy Provincial Public Health Medical Doctor of Prachin Buri said, “On behalf of the Ministry of Public Health, one of the ’Solar for Lives’ project’s partners, I reckon this project as the significant collaboration between government agencies and private sector organization to support the government’s policy to promote clean energy consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions. To help reduce power costs for the hospitals of this project, it also brings about better quality of life for the communities and sustainable society development.”

Mr. Thammarat Ngamsang Na Dee District Chief, Prachin Buri added, “Thailand’s long-term goal is to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050. Meanwhile, it also aims for a 30-percent reduction of greenhouse gas (GHG) by 2030, and net-zero GHG emissions by 2065. These goals can only be achieved if there are collective efforts from everyone, whether as an individual or an organization. Thanks to Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, for furthering our efforts towards a more sustainable and carbon-free future, and bringing sustainability and clean energy to our community.”

Launched in 2022, ‘Solar for Lives’ is a project that has been initiated by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, in collaboration with its partners and state agencies including the Ministry of Public Health, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), and the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO). So far, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has installed a total of nine community hospitals in Thailand, including:

1. Namphong Hospital, Khon Kaen
2. Phaya Mengrai Hospital, Chiang Rai
3. Khao Chaison Hospital, Phatthalung
4. Vibhavadi Hospital, Surat Thani
5. Pong Hospital, Phayao
6. Chanuman Hospital, Amnat Charoen
7. Dan Makham Tia Hospital, Kanchanaburi
8. Ban Rai Hospital, Uthai Thani
9. Na Dee Hospital, Prachin Buri
