Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Continues Bolstering Youth Education Amidst the COVID-19 Hit, Organizing Scholarship Award Ceremony

Bangkok - August 13, 2021: Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Eiichi Koito, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand (Top Left), organized scholarship award ceremony “MMTh VTECH Scholarship Program 2021”, awarding financial grants to 5 Vehicle Technology Engineering (V-TECH) students of Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE), Pattaya Campus. Assoc. Prof. Dr. -Ing Thira Jearsiripongkul, Dean of Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE) (Top 2nd from Left), lecturers, and executives of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand also attended to celebrate the success of the students through a video conference platform, an innovative approach for the new normal era. Qualified students are awarded with the scholarship for two years consecutively, with further internship and employment opportunities at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, the world’s leading automotive manufacturer. The program objective is to create “Graduates of the New Generation”, who are specialized in automotive engineering, to prosper and evolve Thailand’s automotive industry, and achieve a flourishing future.

Mr. Eiichi Koito, President & CEO of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated that Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has continued its commitment to supporting a considerable number of projects in order to contribute back to the Thai society even though there have been relentless COVID-19 surges. This time, the company held scholarship award ceremony under the “MMTh VTECH Scholarship Program 2021” for higher education students using an online conference platform. This program is a collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE), which does not only provide opportunities to talented undergraduates in Bangkok but also those in the upcountry. It is regarded as part of the educational initiatives under our vision on social contribution commitment: “To Contribute and Grow with Thai society”. Moreover, we have celebrated the 60th anniversary of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand this year by establishing “Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Foundation (MMTF)” to serve as a nonprofit organization, with an aim to benefit the society through three focuses-in “environment”, “health”, and “education and morality”. Throughout the years of operations, there were a number of initiatives rolled out including “Mitsubishi Motors Give Chance, Give Education”, where the brand joined forces with the Equitable Education Fund (EEF), 60-Rai Forestation Project, as well as charitable events that distributed ventilators, UV-C Sanitizing Devices, high-quality personal protective equipment or PPE, N95 masks, drinking water to those in need, and recyclable cardboard boxes to make paper field hospital beds to relieve COVID-19’s impact.

Realizing that, the company therefore places importance on providing academic support to Thai youths. In collaboration with Thailand’s leading Thammasat University, this scholarship fund was established to enhance educational opportunities with a two-year grant for the students of Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE), Pattaya Campus, who achieve outstanding performance and have been well behaved. For this year, there were 5 TSE students surpassing the criteria and being qualified for the award. The successful candidates will be obtaining first-hand work experience from Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, world’s leading automotive manufacturer and distributor which features cutting-edge automotive designs and state of the art manufacturing process. A position at Mitsubishi Motors Thailand will be reserved and offered to the students once they graduated in order to secure future careers for the youths. The company has devoted its efforts to youth development to ensure that they can grow into quality adults and are ready to drive the country’s automotive industry to enhance advancement in the times to come,” Mr. Koito added.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. -Ing Thira Jearsiripongkul, Dean of Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE), said that “I would like to hereby express my appreciation to Mitsubishi Motors Thailand regarding the establishment of this scholarship program. The program is not only to promote educational opportunities for students, but it also works as a launching pad to produce competent and knowledgeable personnel, who will serve the country and develop the society in pursuit of Thailand’s ongoing development plans. I believe this will be an important step that inspires technological research in the future.”

Ms. Piyatida Boonmaswai, a third-year V-TECH student, Thammasat University, Pattaya Campus, expressed “Thank you, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, for the scholarship and this invaluable learning opportunity. The program enabled us to practically apply the knowledge gained in preparation for the upcoming work opportunity with Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, and allowed us to leverage what we have learned from textbooks to uplift our future capacity as part to develop the country and continues to create values that enhance the society in the future.”

The MMTh VTECH Scholarship Program 2021 is a collaboration between Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and Thammasat School of Engineering (TSE), signed in a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on September 15, 2020, with an aim to enhance educational opportunities through a full scholarship to cover tuition fees of junior and senior years of selected Thammasat V-TECH students who obtain outstanding performance. Furthermore, the program encourages students to cultivate hands-on experience through Work Integrated Learning (WIL).The successful candidates will attend an internship program and ultimately become a full-time employee of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand at Laem Chabang Factory. This route to success is consistent to the objectives of the program that point to create “Graduates of the New Generation” and competent manpower to complement the needs of the manufacturing sector, according to Thailand’s higher education reform policy. All graduates must be capable of practically working and armed with knowledge, skills, and exceptional competencies. There are 5 students qualified for the scholarships, namely 1) Ms. Piyatida Boonmaswai 2) Mr. Korrawit Singkaew 3) Mr. Mathanon Wattanapirom 4) Mr. Jirapat watpairun, and 5) Mr. Daranphob Santvinyoo.

Mitsubishi Motors Thailand remains committed to consistently supporting the education sector. Throughout the time, the company provided educational support to Thai youths through several programs, including an annual internship program “MMTh Talent Internship” Program, with leading universities. “Mitsubishi Motors Give Chance, Give Education” program.
