Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Celebrates Achievement of Six Million-Unit Production at 60th Anniversary Year

Bangkok, March 17, 2021: Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has reached another milestone in its 60th anniversary in Thailand, with the production achievement of six million-unit at its facility in Laem Chabang, Chonburi.

“The six million-unit production celebration is another important milestone for Mitsubishi Motors Thailand. As we celebrate our 60th anniversary in Thailand, the six million-unit production we have achieved is also a celebration of the continued growth of our company and Thailand’s automotive industry throughout the decades,” said Mr. Morikazu Chokki, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd.

Over the past 60 years, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has been a part of the development and growth to achieve a sustainable economy, industry and society in Thailand through seven major pillars with investments, exports, environmental preservation and technology transfer, social contribution, human resources development and employment. It has continued creating a lot of remarkable achievement. This makes Mitsubishi Motors Thailand the largest manufacturing facility of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation. Besides, it was also the first automaker to export Thai-made vehicles. Mitsubishi Motors Thailand, one of Thailand’s leading car exporter, it has the accumulated export volume more than 4.4 million units (1988-2021) which equivalent of 75% from total production to more than 120 countries worldwide.

Today, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has three Assembly Factories, one Engine Factory, the first Proving Ground to strengthen research and development (R&D) outside Japan and an Education Academy as a training facility for employees and dealership nationwide. Moreover, it has invested more than 82 Billion Baht in over a thirty-year period. Underlining Thailand as an important production and export hub to the regional and global operations of Mitsubishi Motors Corporation.

Moving forward, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand has pledged to continue its growth in Thailand. The recently-launched Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV was built in its production facility in Laem Chabang, making it the first facility outside Japan to build the world’s best-selling PHEV for the local market.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is the flagship model which embodies Mitsubishi Motors' expertise in electrification, SUV and all-wheel control technologies. The vehicle delivers a quiet, smooth yet powerful acceleration unique to electric vehicles (EVs) with eco-friendly technologies. Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV is sold in more than 60 countries and its global cumulative sales volume has reached 270,000 units as of December 2020.
