Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and MMTh Engine Receive Five 2023 Zero Accident Awards from Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health
BANGKOK – August 23, 2023: Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and MMTh Engine Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Kitti Leelawatnanun, Senior Vice President, Factory Unit of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. recently received the 2023 Zero Accident Awards for its five factories from the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization). The awards were presented by Mr. Surachai Chaitrakulthong, Assistant to the Labor Minister in a ceremony held at THAILAND SAFE @ WORK #35.
In recognition of its world-class occupational health and safety practices, the five factories operated by Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and MMTh Engine received 2023 Zero Accident Award including for Factory 3, Factory 1 and 2, MMTh Engine factory, Press 1, Press 2, and Plastic.
Factory 3 received the highest Platinum level award in recognition of the factory’s zero lost time incidents, which has been maintained for 29 million workhours over two years. The Gold level award was granted to the MMTh Engine facility that marked a significant improvement after having secured silver level previously. The MMTh Engine factory has maintained 10.6 million workhours with zero lost time. The Gold level award also went to Factory 1 and Factory 2 with 47.1 million man-hours worked without lost time for four consecutive years.
The Bronze level award was given to Press 1 for achieving a safety performance of 1.1 million workhours of operation with zero accident in two years. Achieving the same Bronze award, Press 2 and Plastic has operated for 2.7 million continuous working hours without accident for three consecutive years.
Mr. Kitti Leelawatnanun, Senior Vice President, Factory Unit of Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd, said after receiving the awards, “This year’s Zero Accident Awards achievement is a result of a full suite of employee engagements. The identification of risk areas in the workplace, together with experiential inputs and solutions from employees which focused on safety, helped lead to safety enhancements and risk reduction in all areas. We have taken every safety measure to achieve the goal of reducing workplace accidents to zero, enabling Mitsubishi Motors Thailand to maintain the safety standard with zero accident,”
“In addition, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand also promotes safe driving among our employees when commuting from home to work and vice versa, to ensure that every employee is safe and risk-free during and outside of work hours. The Zero Accident Awards achievement was driven by the full cooperation and efforts of our employees and will serve as an important model for Mitsubishi Motors Thailand factories to adopt to reduce workplace accidents in the future,” added Mr. Kitti.
The Zero Accident Campaign is an initiative by the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Public Organization) which encourages businesses to be committed to preventing workplace accidents based on the belief that ‘work-related accidents can be prevented’. The campaign goal is achieved by reducing statistics of injuries in workplaces to zero through continuous planning and management of safety, occupational health, and the work environment while creating a culture that is focused on safety and occupational health.
