Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Strengthens Investment in Thailand with State-of-the-Art Production Line for ALL-NEW MITSUBISHI TRITON

BANGKOK – Aug 7, 2023 –Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd strengthens its investment and growth in Thailand by investing in a new production line for ALL-NEW MITSUBISHI TRITON1 at its Laem Chabang Factory for global exports. The new production line for ALL-NEW TRITON is now ranked as one of the most highly automated welding line in Thailand with the automation ratio of 95 percent, featuring advanced automation of more than 250 intelligent robots in the Welding Line to achieve the precision and tasks that are beyond human capacity.


“Mitsubishi Motors takes pride in being a leader that has supported Thailand's automotive manufacturing industry as an export hub for many years. We view Thailand as a strategic production base, where we manufacture key vehicle models and export them worldwide. To achieve this, we have made various investments in technological advancements. One of the biggest investments made was the construction of a new paint factory in 2022. We incorporate automation with excellent craftsmanship of our skilled workforce while creating an energy-efficient, clean, and high-quality paint facility with an investment of 3 billion baht. Additionally, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand is using solar power to generate 7MW of electricity, enabling clean energy-driven automobile production – with plans to continue investing in such clean energy initiatives in the future,” said Mr. Eiichi Koito, President and CEO, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd.


At the launch of ALL-NEW TRITON, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand made substantial advancements in the pickup production line. This line consists of more than 250 state-of-the-art robots, capable of assembling approximately 200,000 vehicle bodies per year with high precision and quality.


“This robot production line is on par with Mitsubishi Motors' domestic factories in Japan, demonstrating our commitment to Thailand's strategic future with cutting-edge investments. Moving forward, we will continue contributing to the region through investments, production, exports, and technology transfer in Thailand,” added Mr. Koito.


The production automation upgrades for ALL-NEW TRITON consist of a wide range of high-precision robotics systems which aim at improving workplace environment and productivity, including a giant robot with 900-kg heavy-lifting capacity, handling robots, robots with tip monitoring system, flexible jig by turntable and robot hand, adhesive & sealant camera detectors, electronics tightening tools, and paperless e-Check Sheet system.
