Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Receives 'Community Forest Support’ Award Two Years in a Row for its Green Project, “Root for Sustainability”

BANGKOK – June 7, 2023: Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd. and Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Foundation (MMTF) recently received 'Community Forest Support' award for the second consecutive from Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment. Under ‘Root for Sustainability’ project, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Foundation replanted 40-rai of forest in Ban Khok Phluang Community Forest in Nakhon Ratchasima province, in August 2022 to emphasize the company’s commitment to support Thailand’s objective towards a carbon-neutral society, which is also in line with its CSR direction ‘To Contribute and Grow with Thai Society’ under its three main pillars – Education, Environment and Health.

In 2022, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand and Mitsubishi Motors Thailand Foundation received the award for their contribution in the ‘60 Years 60 Rai Reforestation’ Project, which was a part of Mitsubishi Motors' 60th anniversary in Thailand in 2021. Out of 60 Rai, 20 Rai was reforested in Ban Ang Krapong Community Forest in Chonburi province, and another 40 Rai in Ban Na Ngam Community Forest in Sa Kaeo province. With continuous effort including 40-rai of forest in Ban Khok Phluang Community Forest in Nakhon Ratchasima province, in August 2022. The reforestation is 100 Rai in total and is aligned with Thai government’s goal of expanding community forest land to 55 percent by 2037.

Mr. Varawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment said, “Today, there are over 11,900 community forests all over the country and is rapidly increasing. We can see Thai citizens’ recognition on the importance of community forests for mankind. The core action for everyone is to accelerate expansion and reforestation of community forests while supporting economic forest policies to develop local economy and drive Thailand towards sustainability.”
