Mitsubishi Motors Thailand announces its first-ever sponsorship of Muangthong United F.C. to connect with more youngsters

NONTHABURI – August 22, 2022: Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., one of Thailand’s automakers, announced its first sponsorship of Muangthong United F.C., the country’s professional football club, during a press conference at Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani. Through this sponsorship, Mitsubishi Motors’ logo will feature prominently on this season’s jersey and more marketing campaigns between both partners will be launched in an effort to enhance customer relations, boost youth engagement, and elevate Thai football to an international level.

Mr. Arata Takahashi, Senior Vice President, Marketing Strategy Unit, Mitsubishi Motors (Thailand) Co., Ltd., stated: “Our sponsorship of Muangthong United F.C. is part of our sports marketing plan, which aims to increase brand awareness among young people. We look to establish a connection between our company and the people’s lifestyle and their big interest in football, which is unquestionably one of the most popular sports in Thailand. Through a one-year sponsorship, Mitsubishi Motors’ logo will appear on Muangthong United F.C.’s new jerseys. The football class for youth under the license of the club academy, Thailand’s biggest sports academy will also be organized as part of our joint marketing initiatives aimed at building positive relationships with Mitsubishi customers nationwide.”

Muangthong United F.C. is one of the leading football clubs in Thailand and well-regarded across Asia. Its headquarters is located in Muangthong Thani, Nonthaburi province. The club has won four Thai Premier League titles and has held the top spot in the country’s professional football league for the past decades. Famous football players from the club, including Chanathip Songkrasin, Teerasil Daengda, Kawin Thamsatchanan and Theerathon Bunmathan, have played in many international leagues.

Muangthong United F.C. currently has over two million followers on social media which is the most extensive fan base among other Thai football clubs, and over 10,000 fans attending every home match regularly. Their followers in the neighboring countries are growing every year, with 85,000 supporters in Vietnam, 55,000 in Cambodia, 50,000 in Laos, and 40,000 in Myanmar.

In light of Mitsubishi Motors Thailand’s sponsorship announcement, Mr. Wiluck Lothong, Chairman of Muangthong United showed his appreciation to Mitsubishi Motors Thailand for the sponsorship to the football club which could help to enhance club’s capability to another level.

Founded in 1989, Muangthong United F.C. is the first the team that played in lower division football leagues in Thailand. In 2002, the club made it to Division Two and finished first before Mr. Ravi Lohtong took charge in 2007. After attaining more success in the succeeding years, the football club was promoted to the Thai Premier League and has been part of the match since 2009.
