All-New Triton Seizes ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2024's ‘Best Pickup Truck’ with Maximum Five-Star Safety Rating

Mr. Shigeo Yasuda (right), Senior Vice President, Research & Development Unit, Mitsubishi Motors Thailand recently received the ‘Best Pickup Truck’ award for the All-New Mitsubishi Triton from Mr. Zulhaidi Mohd Jawi (left), Director, Vehicle Safety & Biomechanics Research Centre, Malaysia Institute of Road Safety Research (MIROS) during the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2024 ceremony held at the King Mongkut University of Technology North Bangkok (KMUTNB), in the occasion that the All-New Mitsubishi Triton is the first and only pickup truck to achieve a maximum five-star rating of ASEAN NCAP  (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) in the current 2021-2025 protocols, a comprehensive safety performance assessment for new vehicles in the ASEAN region.

 

BANGKOK – June 6, 2024: The All-New Mitsubishi Triton has achieved yet another award, the ‘Best Pickup Truck’ from the ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards 2024, emphasizing its best-in-class safety technologies of all model variants by earning a maximum five-star rating in the ASEAN NCAP, a comprehensive safety performance assessment for new vehicles in the ASEAN region. Nominations were based on models assessed within the ASEAN NCAP 2021-2023 assessment period.

 

Completely redesigned, the All-New Mitsubishi Triton features the innovative and strong “Mega Frame” chassis together with a Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) body which helps to absorb energy and reduce cabin deformation in the event of a crash, in addition to seatbelts with pretensioner and force-limiter and seven SRS airbags*. It also features the Active Stability Control (ASC), Traction Control System (TCL), Active Limited Slip Differential (Brake Control Type) or LSD as well as the Diamond Sense that includes the Forward Collision Mitigation system (FCM) with pedestrian detection.

 

The ASEAN NCAP Grand Prix Awards is a bi-annual event since 2014 with the objective to commemorate high achievers in the field of vehicle safety in the ASEAN region. It is a part of ASEAN NCAP, an automobile safety rating program covering 10 ASEAN countries. In addition to occupant protection, the program also evaluates collision avoidance performance with vulnerable road users, particularly motorcycles.

 

Besides, the All-New Mitsubishi Triton has also earned a maximum five-star rating in the 2024 ANCAP (Australasian New Car Assessment Program), which evaluates the overall safety performance of new vehicles in Australia and New Zealand, as the first double-cab pickup to receive the highest rating in the current 2023-2025 protocols.
